Guidelines for private guides

When Visiting the Museum on Your Own

Authorized tourist guides are welcome to lead groups at the Danish War Museum.

We recommend that groups report their arrival to the Booking Office before the visit.

For a fee to open the museum, it is also possible to visit the museum with groups outside of regular opening hours. Here, reservation is mandatory.

Time can be reserved at: [email protected] or by phone +45 4120 6080.

Before Visiting

Bus parking: Drop-off and boarding can be done in front of the museum's main entrance at Tøjhusgade 3.

The guide must pay special attention to cyclists when guests are getting off the bus. For boarding and disembarking at official tourist bus spots, refer to parking at Christiansborg Palace Square.

Before entering, the guide must inform the group about the rules and practical matters, including that it is possible to pay with € and $ in the museum shop; however, only with banknotes, NOT coins, and change will be given in Danish kroner.

During the museum's opening hours, groups have access through Tøjhusgade 3 or Søren Kierkegaards Plads, unless otherwise agreed.

Outside of opening hours, groups have access via Tøjhusgade 3, unless otherwise agreed.

During the Visit

The guide must inform the group about the visitation rules before starting the tour:

  • The guide should keep the visitors in the group together.
  • A guided tour may last a maximum of 50 minutes unless otherwise agreed upon in advance.
  • Be quiet and considerate of other guests and groups.
  • Do not step in front of another guide who is speaking to their group.
  • Food and drinks are not allowed in the exhibitions, but can be enjoyed in the courtyard.
  • Intoxicated behavior is not accepted.
  • Photography without the use of flash is permitted with mobile phones and handheld cameras.
  • Instructions from the museum staff must be followed.

After the Visit

After the visit, the guide is welcome to assist with any translations in the museum shop.
