Gunpowder, tanks and atomic bombs. These innovations have changed the way we conduct warfare. What impact will drones have?
With new technology comes new opportunities and risks. Drones seem to be changing the way we conduct warfare. So how do they affect our battlefields, societies, and minds? View it all from the perspective of a drone in the new exhibition Game changer? Drones at War.
Highlights
1.

From Hot Air Balloons to “Insect Drones”
Drones are not a new technology in warfare. In the 19th century, bombs were attached to balloons and flown over enemy territory. Today, some drones weigh just a few grams, while others weigh over 600 kg and can fly thousands of kilometers. Come and see the Nazis' feared V1 bomb or a state-of-the-art nano-drone at the exhibition.

I no longer love blue skies. Now I prefer gray skies, then the drones don't fly.
2.
Waging War 20,000 KM Away, With a Joystick
Drones in warfare is a tale of technology and our ever-changing relationship with war. But what does it mean when we can replace soldiers with drones? And how does it impact soldiers and civilians when drones can surveil and attack anywhere? Drones have truly entered the battlefields since the war on terror in 2001 and now in Ukraine.

3.

How will drones change the “game” in the future?
Drones make a difference on the battlefield. But we have only seen the first waves. Because artificial intelligence makes drones more autonomous in critical combat moments. Do we dare trust artificial intelligence? Experience the battlefield of the future at the Danish War Museum.

Escape the drone
Using thermal cameras, drones can measure heat differences, making it difficult for soldiers and civilians to hide. See if you can fool a real thermal camera in the exhibition by hiding behind a curtain or aluminum blanket.
